About
It would be difficult to categorize the work of K.A. Maroufi according to a specific style, subject matter, or medium. Any chosen subject matter essentially demands its own form of expression. Her first focus is realistic painting, but as her work has become more socially and politically relevant, she has found that combining different art forms allows for the creation of a more complex visual language.
K.A. Maroufi is an accomplished and recognized artist and designer. Her artistic oeuvre is very broad encompassing nearly all of studio art (artiste-peintre), specializing in: oil paintings; murals, marouflage, and frescoes (including restorative work); sculpture; textiles and tapestry; design of interior decoration, landscape, exterior architectural details and book alterations.
Her studio work resides in private collections on four continents, and has been exhibited in both group and solo showings at many principal art festivals, exhibitions, and galleries. Two of her many awards include the First Grand Prize (Médaille d'Or de St Jean Cap Ferrat) at the 2ème Salon des Artistes Independents de la Cote d'Azur and the prestigious Daedalus Award for craftsmanship and technical excellence at the 1998 Icarus International Exhibit in Nags Head, North Carolina.
K.A. has completed many large-scale public and private works in the South of France. Details in regard to these major commissions are given in her Bio.
